Scans of the National Library of Spain Custom Pages

Leo through the popular "Digg" that Miller describes hard to National Library of Spain with the headline: The shame of the scans from the National Library .

The summary that appears on Digg is representative of the position Millan:

"Scans of the newly released Digital Newspaper BN have been made from works with more than 80 years, duty, therefore. But ..." The bottom of each page bears the Copyright National Library. What does that mean? Does the work, by the fact digitized, and not in the public domain? Does the scan is being used in practice to privatize a content that was free of rights? "

day may come when the institutions realize that the added value is not in the digitization but developments, services tools, etc. that may involve the digitization of works. I agree that it is important for clarifying the © National Library which puts the bottom of your pages.

Scans of the National Library of Spain: A further comment

Qualification of miles apart, I find it very hard to see how the National Library of Spain facilitates segmentation of a heritage that could have a common umbrella. Under the project Virtual Library Miguel de Cervantes, other national libraries of Latin American countries like Chile, Argentina, Peru ... had agreed to share a unique initiative , which also interesting contributions were joined by other institutions of higher rank and an excellent representation of our linguistic heritage.

The advantages of a unique initiative has much to do with the potential arising from the distribution of our linguistic heritage in Latin America. Also with the need for the creativity, resiliency and dynamism of language and literature from countries totaling nearly 400 million English speakers will be taken into account in Spain.

Curiously though, the lessons of history, derived from English myopia, seasoned with the necessary doses of intellectual egotism, lost the ability develop and promote an international community very important. Internet allows it, people do impossible. A pity.

How To Sit 12 At A Table For 10

Virtual Libraries

A virtual library is an ideal place to raise in his home a customized page, following the model of Web 2.0 and take advantage of XML technologies, AJAX, RSS, etc. As already done by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Netvibes , etc. For

Virtual Library Miguel de Cervantes as the possibility of allowing the user to design a personalized page on the home is interesting. On the one hand, meet national libraries that would be the ability to customize the site and satisfy their users through proposals in which a specific institutional settings could be enriched by the extraordinary contributions of other works and content in general.

In practice could also very useful for teachers. Imagine building a page from a high school teacher. The possibility of designing a page singled out for their students in their literature class with those ingredients (authors, works, content, etc.) required for the specific level of their students and that the same teacher chooses, in its discretion. Page that would be different depending on the preferences and needs of individual teachers and their students (History, Catalan literature, English, English ...).

reflection comes to me after my last article: Customized Pages universities.
